I have a 12X24 dog kennel {chain Link} that I weather the goshawk in. It has a chain link top and is completely covered on the top. During the day I put the goshawk in the dog kennel {tethered} with my 2 pointers and then late in the evening I take her inside her mews. The Harris Hawk and the golden eagle alternate during the day freelofted in a 16X30 weathering area that is made out of hog wire. I don't have any problem with feather damage on these 2 birds. Here is a picture of the weathering area and the mews. There are 4 chambers in the mews and a work area.

Thanks, this is the same set up I had in California. The 16X30 weathering area is portable. The 4X8 panels bolt together and its pretty easy to take it apart. The top panels are a little tougher because they are 4X16 and a little tough for one person to handle. Once I got them to New Mexico, I put it all together by myself. The building was built by TuffShed in a half a day.

I have 2 10x10 dog kennels that are connected. I have a gate between the two. One side is covered, for training a new raptor, or bad weather. The other is completely open. The top is peaked with yet another dog kennel, so the panels meet in the middle and are braced well. The triangles on the ends and in the middle are covered with rolled chainlink. It works, but if I did it all over, I would save my money and do something more like what I see in this thread. Furthermore, I will not free loft in this weathering, and I hope to have a formal building for severe weather, or should I decide to inter-mew a bird in the future. I spent about $900 on 3 kennels and extra brackets, and I think the money would have been better spent, building from scratch, and I would have more control of the overall design. :Plive and learn!
