I have a Spinny Bird thing that I purchased from homedepot that is supposed to provide good ventilation for a small shed or building. It spins at the top but my consern is if the bird will get into it. The blades on the darn thing are protected by three criscrossed bars but I'm afraid the bird still might get into it. I mean from inside the mew. It is located on the roof of the the mew. What do you guys think? Will this be ok? And also for the windows in the mews do you guys have shutters or do you leave the barred windows open all day and night long?

Build a small barred section to cover the opening small enough that the RT feet can't get into it....Maybe a heavy guage 1/2" hardware cloth will do.
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day; give him a religion................ and he'll starve to death while praying for a fish."
for your barred windows make a door so you can make it light tight. ( for manning) Will also help if the bird gets injured and you need to keep it calm.
Sounds like a good idea. Also do you think that chicken wire would be ok for protection from the twirly bird. Its in the cealing kind of tucked in the rafters.

no, chicken wire is for chickens not for raptors. How would you like to come to your mews and see your hawk hanging from the ceiling?
And the three windows on my mews are barred with no window coverings. If for some odd reason they need to be covered, its simple to hang something dark over them.
