The rain has stopped for a few days according to the weather man. I am going to cut 2 windows in the eagles chamber and install the bars this weekend if all goes well. I went out today and marked it all off. I will try and buy the 1/2 conduit bars today and use my friends cut off machine so that the windows will be ready to install as soon as I make the cuts. You know the saying, the best laid plans just might not come together at the same time. I will do before and after pic's.
Well, the best laid plans did not come together. I bought all the stuff to do the windows and the electrical and it came to $224. Then I called my friend with the cutoff machine and he is gone on vacation, so I can't do the windows until he gets back. Then I called my electrician friend who has been calling me all week to do the job and his wife went in last night for emergency C section. He won't be able to do the electrical until next week sometime due to complications with the new son. Life in the big city.
Today was nice and sunny so I decided to put the bar windows in the eagle mews. I cut one of the openings out and got started, but, when it got to the point of putting in the bars, I realized I had not allowed for the framing of the windows with 2 x 4's. So I gathered the 31 EMT bars that I had cut to 40 inches and went back to my friends house to recut them. I had to cut 2 and 1/2 inches off each one for them to be the right size.Got that all done and came back and finished the one window. I'll have to do the 2nd window tomorrow because I will have to cut those EMT bars as well. Hey, I never claimed to be a carpenter.

Grr, i remember having to drill press the two boards for the front of my mew [which is fully barred]. Took forever.... and was incredibly boring. Especialy since i forgot to account for the bars width when measuring, i had to remark my spots for drilling 3 times That takes forever with 2 12ft boards.

These pictures are all before the bar windows were added. I am going to put the 2nd window in tomorrow and then I'll take pic's of that to post an after picture.
The windows are all in , but, the rain has got me held up from finishing the trim work on the outside. I will post a picture as soom as it stops raining.
I still haven't run the power out to the mews/weathering area. Its been raining off and on here and as soon as it gets dry, my friend and I are going to do the power. In the meantime, I was thinking of what type of lights to put into the chambers. I needed something that was set back so that the birds wouldn't break the light or hang from the fixture. While I was at Home Depot. I saw the plastic coated decorative rope type lights. I bought a 24 footer and 2 of the 18 footers. I installed the 24 footer in the main eagle chamber and then drilled a 1"hole into the smaller chamber and ran the other 2 rope lights in the 2 smaller chamber. These rope lights plug into each other and then you only have to have one electric cord to work all three. I installed the lights at the top of the chambers and they are out of the birds way and should give me enough light when needed. I will know more tonight when I plug them in. Right now, if I want power out to the mews, I have to run 3 long electrical extension cords from the house. I think its about 175 feet out there.
Yea, the rain really sucks when you are trying to get something done. We need the rain, but, I hate it when it comes. The worst is supposed to come in tonight.
Thanks Kenbro. I haven't had a chance to check out the new lighting because the rains have been really bad. I don't want to string out the 175 feet of extension cord while it is still raining. I better stop spending money on this mews because I plan on moving to New Mexico in the summer of next year. I'll have to build another mews when I get there.
