With some modifications, yes. It will need barred open windows and perches, but most of all you have to think about what the bird will do inside the mew....are there any sharp objects, things for her to grab onto, small gaps that talons could get caught in. Is the shed plastic or metal? You might want to add a safety chamber.

i went and checked out the shed and there isnt any sharp objects but is some small gaps that can be filled in. the shed is made of wood with shingles on top. needs a little paint but is still in overall good condition.
P.S what is a safety chamber?

I have started looking for dimensoins or instuctions for a mew in my backyard, i have a good open area about 13 by 16 and i would like to no if anybody has a link or any info on a nice mew that would fit in there thanx.
This is going to be my default statement to people asking questions about thier first mews that do not post what they are thinking of building.
Talk to your sponsor.
If someone posts a "hey i spoke to my sponsor and we are going to build a mews that looks like this...." im all for it. But a sponsor is the END ALL BE ALL of what you do in your first two years as a falconer.

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away
i am plannin on getting a RT when i get my liscense, and was wondering about the size of the mew. I was thinking something like 5x9x7-9. I dont have a sponsor yet, but am looking into it. Is that too small??? any advice would be great.
Hey im doing the exact same thing as you. I just put the foundation in today. I used cinder blocks (hope the stay level). I'll send you some pictures if you'd like. Any way its a 10x10 shed that I bought from Home Depot. It was a little pricey but well worth the money. It comes with every thing measered and cut, you just have to assemble the darn thing. Any way tomarrow I plan on putting the flooring in so I let you know how it goes. Good luck on your mews. My advice would be to do the best you can for you and the bird. It doesn't have to be spacey but good ventalation and sunlight only benefit the bird.

hey im kinda freekin out here because i was i little confused with this whole falconry thing so i passed my test before i contacted a sponser and i still have to finish building my mew anyway this is my question would a 4x8 mew be big enough for a red tail all the OK regs say as long as the bird can completely spread its wings
wow i hope i dont have to get a kestral (no offense to the falconeers with kestrals)
dont critized someone till u walk a mile in there shoes then critized them because then you will be a mile away and you will have there shoes

It should be big enough so the birds wings wont touch the sides when it bates. Mine is 10x10x6 but in my IMO I would say 8x8x6 is fine if the bird is tethered.
I used to think i knew some things. But i'm not so sure anymore.

Yager, I have seen garden sheds used. The front door was replaced with another that had bars running from top to bottom. If you do that then attach your weathering area to the front of the shed and you will have a safety chamber/weathering area for your mew. Check for nails coming through the roof and any other sharp stuff like corners,hinges,etc.etc. If it is a older shed take a look at the walls to see if there is mold of fungus growing,if there is then I would not use it for fear of respitoray problems. Aspergillosis loves to grow on old,damp,non- treated plyboard. Remember to get with your sponser he will have a lot of insight on what you should have. Look at your regs for your state,if you have more questions you can call you states wildlife department and ask to get in touch with a inspector in your area.
P.S If it's a metal shed then I would not use it-Zach
