Its not co2, its just air. You can buy an airpump for 10$ at petsmart then hookup that filter. It oxygenates the water i believe which is good for the plants and the fish. The filter however, my step-brother has the same one for his turtles and it set him back a pretty penny.

bet you spent a small fortune on lights. It looks great. thats almost the exact tank I had planned on setting up before I got into falconry.
no, it wasn't so bad.. kinda got em cheap off a friend at half price... i can't afford a new set of lights. they're i think its $140 (works out to be about US$80) brand new. way cooL!! what fish were you planning on keeping? as you can see, i've got a school of congo tetras. bought them as juveniles about 3 weeks ago. i will probably not put in more fish. the other misc fish i have there are oto cats (little sucker fish that stay small), a pleco with polka dots and white tail tips, and 4 whiptail catfish. i was thinking of keeping altum angel fish but it didnt work out in the end. i figured my tank was too shallow. i am planning on getting a 5x2.5x2.5 foot fish tank next just for the altums since they are extremely tall fish. i would imagine they're cheaper over there since you guys are much nearer to the amazon than i am.
Dustin, the CO2 system was a killer. really expensive. but heck, its 5 litres so its not gonna finish so soon. i see it as an investment. probably sometime next year i'll have to have it topped up. the ceremic diffuser wasn't cheap. however, that too, was second hand. and completely unused. provided i get a new fish tank, i will have to buy another system which might break the bank seeing that it will be a brand new one.
FB, its CO2. i dont have an air pump in the tank. theres enough water movement for gas exchange. plus, there are lots of plants though i plan on getting more. i'm using 2 filters, Eheim 2228s. they're really good filters and since i added a second one, i have never seen my own fish tank this clean. the CO2 is to supplement the current amount of carbon dioxide in the tank to make the plants grow better. after all, with the lights on, there is a low amount of carbon dioxide dissolved in the water.
Equipment for tropical fish is pretty cheap here so if you want anything, and happen to be in singapore, i will gladly show u a few fish shops. you could bring back a solenoid regulator if you wanted to. fish can be done but i am unfamiliar with your import regulations.
really rarely actually... not worth the traveling and transporting and such. but so far from netting, i got me a few snakeheads, gobies, guppies and the likes.
