Hello all! I am a pre-apprentice and my name is Char (pronounced Shar).
I felt I should introduce myself in the forum I felt most comfortable in. I didn't expect there to be an art forum in a falconry site, but I thought it was quite neat and understandable. I know I love drawing birds of prey almost as much as I love seeing them in flight.
I am an artist here in North Carolina interested in falconry as well. I've always drawn wildlife even as a small child and birds of prey have always been a favorite subject. Though admitedly, I really need to draw more of them!
My favorite bird of prey would be the golden eagle, followed in closely by the red-tail. My love can only be in passing as I live in an apartment and I am not in a position to move into my own house for a number of years. All the while I will learn as much about falconry and the sport as possible. I am also considering joining my state's falconry association soon and I am very interested in going to future meets once a member.
Well, onto the artwork!
Not exactly a bird of prey so much as a dragon! But I felt the dynamic between the two was similiar (perhaps not quite so "goofy") to the bond a falconer must have with their bird.
After I get finished with my current commission, I am wanting to do some art inspired by the book called The Sight by David Clement-Davies. It's a story about wolves who must endure trials because one of their own has a power called "the sight" which lets them see through the eyes of birds. One of the main characters is a steppe eagle named Skart, whose inspired me to draw raptors again.
I hope to enjoy my stay here and to meet some of you. I've been admiring the birds in the Member's birds section. Beautiful animals they are!
Hope to update again soon with a few falconry-related pieces!
