I know exactly who you are now! By the way I took that piece to the world championships that year and placed third. But, when I got back I had to give it to the person that commissioned it. I'll try to post a picture of it turned out pretty good. I think I was new to falconry when I met you. March 2007 I'll get my master, boy how time flies. I would love to see your eagle sometime. Check out my website www.sierracreekstudios.com Have a great holiday!!!!!
I checked it out. Very impressive. I thought you lived down by Wildomar? Your studio's are a long way off from you. Is there a picture of the carving you did of the eagle on your website?

Yup, Wildomar it is!! The lifesize eagle is'nt up yet but will be soon. Been asked to write a book about the process in carving that eagle more of a how to book. The place on the website is in Oakhurst,CA about 10 miles south of Yosemite. It's where I hold carving seminars. It's our family cabin in the mountains. I only have seminars in the summer out on the back deck. We are heading up there after Christmas for a week. I'll be taking a Merlin and a mini Redtail peice with me to finish painting. Are you hunting everyday? Other than the eagle what else are you flying? I'm actually looking for a Harris at least keeping an eye out for one. Take care!!
Send me a picture of the eagle. I am flying a female HH, 2 golden eagles and one falcon. I have't started flying one of the eagles yet, but, right after the first of the year she should be in the air.

As soon as I get my photos back from my web guy I'll shoot one out to you. I never did thank you for allowing me to photo that eagle, so thanks!! I've gotton alot of miles from that scuplture in publicity and all and I would'nt have if I had'nt had the photos in the first place! I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday!!
Thanks Falco. I was bored and just started taking pictures of everything in sight. I just got the picture when Zoltar took off for his other perch. This picture makes an awesome poster in photoshop.
Beautiful photo! The colors really pop, but you can tell it wasn't over saturated in photoshop.
Nice work Jim!

I am just learning a little photoshop. This picture was auto corrected, cropped and then sharpened.
The camera and photographer did the work though. The exposure and settings made the picture. Photoshop just enhanced it a little.
Again, nice work!

Thanks for the compliments. I was shooting from about 15 feet with my Nikon D200 and a 70-300mm lens. I had the lens set at 300mm for the close up. I sent this picture to Loren and he was going to draw it. He does great work.
If you move the dark side of your levels a little darker it will make the grain less noticeable. I know you probably have the ISO cranked up pretty high to get clear shots with the subjects moving that fast.
In Photoshop go to Image>Adjustments>Levels and move the left side of the top bar to the right just a little. In the levels you can also take a little blue out of the image buy selecting Image>Levels>and then change the RGB in the top bar to just the "B" (blue) and move the left side of the top bar to the right just a little.
Or you can try Filter>Noise>Despeckle. That's what I usually do if the grain isn't real bad. If it's extreme then you have to get into your blurs, in Filter>Blur>...and whatever.
Nice photo though! I mean you have to be READY to get a decent picture when the action is moving that quick. I'm not trying to tell you how to be a photographer just offering some tips that I think might make the image a little more natural looking.
Reason for Editing:
Well with the resolution at 72dpi the despeckle recommendation makes it too blurry but the levels helped a little. You can also go to Image>Adjustments>Hue / Saturation to add or remove specific colors or to the whole image.
