Ramka is it common to fly rough legs where you are and how good are they. we have quite a few here but they are considered unsuitable for falconry and therefore the government will not issue permits for them.
Hi all! Cris, it is uncommon to fly rough-legged hawk. They are larger and stronger then coomon buzzzards and they more inclined to soaring and to waiting-on-circles. They have very big and board wings, so they fly very easy and seem very light in air. Thus they can be more slow than common buzzards. Legs are short, but very strong. I can't compare RG with RT, but I think, he is between RT and common Buzzard. Passage hawks is very strong in training, because they reduse weight very slow. But eyass can be greate bird. Hawks in wild cutch birds regullary (ptarmigans). I know, that in Europe (in Denmark, but I don't sure) about 30 years ago it was illegal to hunt with goshawks. Then falconers fly on rabbits common and roug-legged buzzards. My hawk have ill circulatory system, so I think, he couldn't show all abilities. He catch some phesants from circles. Some buggied crows were easy for him, but we couldn't hunt them (I haven't car). He is very fierce like another buzzards.
