Greetings all I am finally putting down my roots and have an opportunity to start something I have been wanting to do for the past 15 years. I just recently moved to Kenai Alaska and I am looking for a sponsor or anyone that might be willing to let a newbie tag along and take note............and as a newbie I am not above being abused if it will get me the training i need just be gentle.

I lived in anchorage before i started my falconry career. Not sure what rabbit populations you have in Kenai but you will have tons of fun. Ptarmigan would be alot of fun. Seriously from experience, if you do get your licence, Dont start with a Goshawk like i know you can as an apprentice there, stick with the redtail, you will thank yourself later.

I'm in alaska. Not a falconer(yet), though.

I might be moving back to the Anchorage area.. And I contacted Fish and Game there.. they weren't willing to give me any info to local falconers till I was sure I was coming up there. But I can give you the guy in Anchorages info you are still in need of it.. I know it was few months ago that you asked, but I wasn't on here then, and would be willing to help you get in touch with they guy that I talked to.
sure! that would be awesome! My appreciated! The guy that I talked to was Rick Sinnott. The guy that I was assuming was one of teh guys in charge in the Anchorage area. When I inquired about the the Alaska Falconers Association, he told me that he doesn't think that they are currently inactive. I'm not sure exactly what that means... Here is what told me exaclty "I'm not sure the Alaska Falconers Association is active. Here's an old contact address: Alaska Falconers Assn - P.O. Box 670386, Chugiak, AK 99567" That doesn't really do me much good, becuase I don't have time to wait around for snail mail. So yeah.. if you would be willing to put me in contact with someone in AK, that would be great! I'm won't find out for a couple more weeks yet if I'm going or not, but it can't hurt to make contacts! Thanks Bob!
I'm in the Anchorage area...Palmer actually. I'm studying for my test and have met a master falconer in Anchorage. Trying to figure out who all is in Anchorage, the Valley, etc.
I am in Anchorage area. I am just getting into falconry (newbie ). Hopefully I will be able to take the apprentice test in a year or two. So far I am just studying up on everything buying books etc.etc. It is nice to see that there are falconers in AK.
wow, the Alaska page isn't very active huh? well i am in southeast and just trying to learn all i can about falconry, although the state being as big as it is I think finding a sponsor is going to be challenging. I'm up for it though!
