Anyone in the MD/DC/VA area? Would be interested in meeting locals and their birds. Newly submitted request for membership at national level and local to VA. Have not had the opportunity to watch a hunt or typical bird care, (both of which activities would be greatly appreciated) so am pre-apprentice status. Would also be appreciative of anyone allowing photographs or time to sketch their birds, will provide pen and ink original per bird.
(Already in contact with VA Falconry Club/American Falconry)
There are a few folks on here from MD I beleive so they might be able to help you out a bit more than I could. Sounds like your on the right track by joining the clubs though ;D Cheers, The Weasel
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day; give him a religion................ and he'll starve to death while praying for a fish."
Well I am happy to work from pictures too, if you care to shoot me any. Have spent years training horses, so I am aware of the dedication training can require, though there would be much more excitement with actually hunting the birds. (not that fox hunting and polo aren't exciting, but age slows one down eventually!) Still doing research as to what is required for caring for a bird and vetting, etc. I like to ensure that the animals in my care are cared for appropriately. One question I have is whether the birds are flown in off season as well as hunting season. I would think that they would require exercise nearly daily for health.
