I have a quick question...for apprenticeship so you have to apply in the state you live in? I am in Michigan, but right near the South Bend, IN border and I am seeing quite a few people on here near me.
Where are you in Michigan? I am right above Elkhart in Vandalia, MI. Since you are a resident of MI you will have to get a Michigan falconry permit. Also check out the Michigan Hawking Club site. Also if interested in going out hunting, I always welcome more dogs ummm..people in the field with my cast of Harris' Hawk.
I live in Niles. Though I am on the way to getting all my paperwork in order I would love some field time, when I am trying to find someone to apprentice under I want to make sure it is a sport I am willing to commit to so I am not wasting anyone's time! When and where do you typically go out? So to clarify, I need to get my Michigan license...can I apprentice in Indiana or do I need to stay in state?

I am from the Elkhart/Goshen area and would be interested in meeting some local falconers if any. Im interested in getting into the sport and would love the opportunity to go on a hunt to see if this is really a thing i want to commit to. Im currently in the stage of trying to gain as much information as i can.

Southern Indiana, just north of Evansville, checking in. Looking to meet some falconers and possibly go on hunt sometime. I'm still researching falconry to be sure it's right for me. Anyone in the area, I'm serious about this. I got time, money, and space, I just need some actual experience.
i agree i have time, money and space but i jest need experience. i have read tons of books and watched videos but until i get out there with a person i cant learn anything really. i am willing to drive to meet ppl and learn.
Hello everybody! I've found a strong draw to falconry, and I've begun to take it as a serious possibility to my life. I believe I live in the perfect place (I'm so grateful to have it, and it's pretty secluded); the northernmost part of Indiana; 12 acres of woodland and native prairie, next to a huge state preserve used by hunters in only a few places, and farm fields available as well. I spend much of my day outside, becoming part of Nature. Anyway, I've probably spent an average of 2-3 hours a day reading about what I need to know to start (recommended books and state/fed regulations), and other things in general. *I'm losing focus on what I'm writing, going from one thing to the next. Apologies if I ever become confusing.

I live in Seymour Indiana and I'm thinking about geting into Falconry and i would like to go out with someone to see first hand what it is like before i jump into anything and if i do step into the Sport i would be going with the Redtail Hawk. but like i said i want to make sure it is something that i want to get into.
I'm also from Fort Wayne, IN. i have been doing some research and would like to meet a sponsor near me so I can learn more about falconry for about 1 year before i try for my apprentice licence. if there are any nearby sponsors, i would like to get in contact soon.

Hello!! I'm looking for a sponsor and I live in Morgantown Indiana. I'm as green as it gets, but that'll make it all the easier to mold me!! Please, need some direction!
The IFA (Indiana Falconers Association) has their annual picnic in August. www.indianafalconersassociation.org/page/page/2863515/2014-8.htm You should come out and meet some of the local falconers. Until then, you should check out the IFA's website and in particular look at the intereseted in falconry page. It will give you some direction on what you can be doing now.

I am going to try and make it to the IFA picnic as well this year. Not 100% sure I can swing it, but going to try since I only live about 3 hours away. Will you be there Mark?
