Hi, I'm from the Kokomo Indiana area. I'm glad to see there are others near my area. I am studying for the falconry license test and have been for some time. I was wondering if anybody could give me a few tips. I am currently reading anything I can get my hands on. I don't personally know anybody involved in falconry and have got a list from the Division of Fish and Wildlife of licensed Indiana falconers. I was wondering if anybody could tell me how much time a person spends with his/ her sponsor during the apprenticeship training, referring to how many days a week? Is this up to individual sponsors? Knowing this would help me with my time schedule due to the driving back and forth and the distance I might be traveling. Any personal knowledge would be helpful. Thanks.
Other then that I am from the shelbyville/greensburg area.
You aren't to far from where I just bought house. I'm out in Trafalgar. When I get settled in maybe we could do some hawking. You can see my temporary mews that I built to house the birds until I have time to build what I realy want in the thread. What I put up in a week
I get up to the Mishawaka area quite frequently. There is a group of about 4 hard core harris hawkers up that way that I've spent time with. In fact, my little male long haired mini-doxie is from up that way. Have you met any of the falconers in Mishawaka? -Joe

The falconer must be diligent and perserving , so much so that as old age approaches he will still pursue the sport out of pure love of it. For, as the cultivation of an art is long and new methods are constantly introduced a man should never desist in his efforts but persist in it's practice while he lives , so that he may bring the art itself nearer to perfection-Frederick II of Hohenstaufen.
I'm from Carmel, of all places. There's so many falconers in my area that unclaimed fields are hard to find, but I may be flying a kestrel season after next, so I can deal with it. I'm obsessed and I'm loving it.
Don't cry because it's gone. Smile because it happened.
