Ok we have our land management thread going which brings me back here if we are going to creat our own utopia for falconry then we may want indigenous game birds to stock it with. Any bright ideas on where a person can get North American grouse. Wild turkeys i can find but spruce, blues and rought grouse aren't so easy to find. So where should we look.
Are we talking buying and raising or just having out in the wild? We have wild grouse, not sure if they are North American... they may be rough. Oh well, in any case, we have pheasants, rabbits, sparrows, starlings, grouse, deer, antelope, a few elk. Basically, anything you feel like hunting, with your bird or rifles!

I know a guy who used to raise game birds and he told me once that grouse do not handle captivity at all. He had tried a few times with adults and eggs he found none lived very long in captivity. If anyone knows breeders that actually have some it would be nice to know how they keep them alive.
