I never would have thought it could happen but my red tail caught a quail! He was on an old barn that had tons of drift weed around it. i had flushed 4-5 rabbits today and it was one of the first few hunts that my bird follows me. last year he never followed me. well he is flying stronger and he lost a couple slips. well i was working around some old metal roofing and lumber trying for another flush and a bunch of quail flew out. he chased one real well actually keeping up but not able to get that last bit of ground. i called him to the fist for a piece of rabbit and put him back up. right after that i was going through some more weeds and i saw something run through the weeds to i started my game call and rip came immediatly to the closest perch. i stopped and banged my stick a little and a little quail which i thought was a rabbit made its last move. Rip dove down and smashed through the weeds and got that little bird. WOW! i let him eat the head which he does with everything and i traded him off. shortly after we caught a rabbit and the quail was a great trade off for that. I immediatly called my sponsor and told him he wouldnt believe me but he did. imagine that, he says it is the second time he has had a friend catch a quail with a RT. It was so cool!

ill deffinatly try him some more on quail. though he cant catch them by wing i know they will run through the weeds and that will be good enough for me. no pics as he ate the quail, i wanted to reward him well for that catch. next time though ill take the camera and get those pics for ya!

My bird has gone into a soar 2 times while hunting. i was talking with my sponsor about soar hawking and that my bird lost his soar. i want to get into it but the couple days that i did hunt in the wind he just caught the wind and flew a few hundred yards down wind. no figure 8s or anything. any sugestions on how to get him to do this more and with me?

Now i'm just telling you how I started doing it w/ my Red-tail. To get it started drop the bird slightly below it's normal hunting weight. Go out when there's a light breeze (not windy) to a place where the trees, poles, ect are atleast 150 yards in front and on either side of you, behind me i have some thing for her to perch on 30-50 yards. Make sure the bird sees the perch behind you then turn it away from it. Toss the bird either straight up or towards the distant landing site. When the bird gets about 30-40 yards away blow the whistle and toss out the lure. The bird should either turn around for the lure or turn for the closer perch and see the lure and come down to it. Make sure you don't let the bird get too far out to call it the first time or it will just keep going to the distant perch (hopefully it will turn to the perch behind you anyways). Then it's just variations of this flight the key is to get the bird to do a u turn in the air after that it's easy beacuse the bird will just keep circling looking for the lure or to be called to the glove(which i do). I trained a sun conure a different way but this is how I trained My hen RT. A warning though it seems to tire my Aerial out a lot fast than just following so sessions won't be as long. Feel free to im me if you have ne other questions.

I'm sorry, but you said "it's impossible" when you really meant "I don't know how yet".

thanks, ill try that even though ive been bad and havent trained the bird to a lure. he just wouldnt do it for some reason while training. i guess i can still work on it.
it would be awesome to see some pics so finish up that film and lets see what you got going on!
My bird just naturally started soaring. If i walk into the open most times he will soar, at first i let him do three circles, then longer and longer intervals. Now he stays about 60ft overhead
