I know Im extremely new to the site but one thing I see that may need to be addressed is the over abundance of extremely old and outdated messages. Some of these post where people are asking for things back a year ago are mainly taking up space and making it a long process to find anything of use. I think any information that is useful no matter how old it is great but a lot of this is not needed and draws away from the site. If someone is still looking for a bird after two years then they should have been able to save up for a really nice bird by now. So far I think this is a great site for sharing info but just a little cluttered.

In each board, the posts are from newest to old. If you go past the first page, most everything is atleast a month old. The posts are left there becuase, like you said, old information is still good information. We do have an archive board, but prefer not to put posts into it becuase then they have no order to them and are just random posts thrown in a bucket per se.

I like the website the way it is, FB and Wolf have done a great job. and rampager you should never give up hope of finding a bird.. though it is a long shot, but miracles HAVE happened

I dont need a bird my slots are full THANK YOU!!!!! I was using that as an example. Like I said, I like the site as well but there are a lot of very old post that could, as was pointed out, be archived to make things a little neater. Im not saying throw every post over a week old into the "bucket". Im saying if a post, such as a want ad, is inactive for an extended period of time maybe it time for it to be archived.

I suppose we could get rid of some in the classifieds section, but what sense does it make to throw old equipment posts into a bin with old bird problem posts? From an organizatoinal point of view i think it makes more sence to leave old posts a few pages back in each board.

I'm sorry rampage, I know exactly what your talking about. I'm the only one that seems to moves things into the archive board and i've been slacking off.
Sticking with the archiving idea, you may want to make two sections of it: one forum for threads with good info in them, and one for...well, everything else. It will make finding a good post a bit easier, at least.
Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he'll be warm for a lifetime.
Can you change the link for most recent posts at the bottom from 10 to 20 or more? You've got a very active forum, which is great, but because it's so active, 10 sometimes isn't enough to catch up on all the posts. It's nice feature for those who are away from the board for a while, or don't have time to look through all the threads. Thanks!! ;D

I dont have the power to do that, but i can email some people and find out if it is do-able. To see the new posts, there is a little falcon next to the boards. If it is filled in with white, there are new posts. If it is just an outline, there isn't. Once in, the threads with new posts since your last log in will have "new" next to it.

I think you can if you're the moderator. Try going into your admin area, then look under "Customize Your Forum" and click on "General Settings". The middle category under that is "Forum Preferences". At the bottom there is a box labeled "Display Recent Posts". You should be able to increase the number from 10 up to 100.
