Okay, not to bring the forums down or anything, but it would be nice to have something called a quick/fast reply. All you need to do with those is click the icon and it opens up a box where you can type your message and post it without having to wait for the Reply Page to load. Very handy and very nice ^_^;

Well, I read almost everything on this forum. I just find little to add. Someone else makes a post that I would have made. Besides, I do not believe that opinions will be altered by what I write. So even when I have something to contribute it does not amount to much. Heck, people that know me do their own thing despite the advice that they called about. Especially if it contradicts their ideas. Falconry to me is a whole that was unfilled in my life. I have pursued it with as much intensity as I have. For the first five years I hunted five days a week. Their are few I know that could do that with the consistancy that I have. Few had that lifesyle. It is a selfish sport, I do it for MY benefit. This forum provides me with entertainment and occassionally insight. In my forty years I have visited every contient but Asia. I have lived life like their was no tomorrow, I still do. The things about this forum I would change would be the same things I would like to see change about US. Keith

Guys, I am terribly cynical. Sometimes I think we close ourselves off to new ideas and different perspectives. I dislike arguments and self righteousness. Falconry is so individualistic and cuts a swath across all walks of life. I have met many falconers that were very egotistical. Some have even gone so far as to treat me with disdain. Simply because of the species I have chosen to fly and that I have had only one bird. This forum seems to have less infighting that other lists I have been on. I joined because Noel felt that I could contribute. So far I have enjoyed communicating with everyone. I know that I have some specialized insights into falconry maybe someone can benefit from that. The US (me included) should be less divisive and more like a fraternity ( co-ed of course) Their are few enough falconers out there, we should really make a sincere effort to come together. May be WE can do it here. Cant we all just get along :>)

Yarak, sometimes, and i think (at least i hope) this applies particularly to this site, arguement is the free exchange of ideas without the embodiment of disdain or dislike. This site is pretty close knit. We can, and have, disagreed with each other on certain topics, but not in a mean way. We are apprentices. Speaking for myself, i take ideas gleaned from this site as indications of what others here have learned from their sponsors. Naturally, we learn on our own as well, but by and large we follow the lead of our more experienced mentors. You fall into that group. And a welcome addition you are. Somewhere in the "hybrids" thread, i told the list that i was going to "pretend" to be against hybridization for the sake of arguement. IMHO, you don't learn anything unless you're being challenged in one way or the other. Being the devil's advocate makes people think. They have to examine their opinions and see if they hold up under scrutiny. I do this because an old philosophy professor did it to me. It worked. I always approach a difference of opinion or ideas like this. My mind is totally open. I don't know enough about falconry yet to close my mind to anything! I know some of the people you mentioned. Those that look down their noses at rabbit hawkers because they fly their gyr at pheasant and take 80 head year. I can only imagine how that effects you with your years of experience and expertise. Now, try being an apprentice. Most generals and masters are friendly and helpful. Others treat us like we're a pain in the ass. Surfs or peasants. FB created a haven for us in this site. We can share our thoughts, desires and experiences without fear of reprisal. I can't think of any one on the list with whom i have any issues. As a matter of fact, i'd love to have every one over for a BBQ (beer for the oldsters only! sorry ).Again, speaking only for myself, i would ask you to challenge me. Teach me. I would love to meet you and go hunting with you but, unfortunately, time and distance prevents that. Instead, i can learn from your responses to our posts. I look for them daily. I hope i'm being clear. If any one has issues with me, i hope they will feel free to share them with me. I feel as if we, on this list, are a cohesive group. And that is gratifying to me. The young men and women that post here represent the future of our sport. And, from what i've seen on this list, the future is bright ;D.
