- Do you provide supplements or anything else to speed up the process? Based on the research I have done, I will probably be feeding Pro-vital, a new supplement that I read about in the new Hawk Chalk. To my knowledge, it doesn't speed up the process, but it does make them healthier and stronger
Ok [love the new fork feature BTW so i didn't highjack the thread]
So here's my opinion of vitamins. I feel as though they should be used vary sparingly and only when a diet is clearly lacking all vitamins needed. I would also consider using them on a sick bird to help get them the nutrients they need. But here is my view on it- People cannot have too much of any vitamin/mineral or they can get sick. Birds im sure work the same way. How do you know how much to give your bird? Sure there is a basic dosing, but if its providing 100% daily value of 100 different vitamins atleat a few are going to be well over 100% DV which IMHO could mean bad news.
Opinions? ;D
For the record- i fed vitahawk maybe 3 times then stopped when i realized this.

Well there are two types of vitamins, water soluble and fat soluble. The only vitamins you can overdose on are fat soluble vitamins, the only ones included in this are vitamins A, D, E, and K. All other vitamins are water soluble, meaning you can eat as much as you want of them, your body takes what it needs, and you urinate out the rest.
I do not believe that there are A, D, E, and K in Vita-hawk or Pro-vital. I may be wrong, but even if there is, there isn't a great enough dosage. So there should be no problem.
**EDIT** Pro-vital does carry vitamin E, but vitamin E only becomes a risk when taking a blood thinner or a statin. Since hawks take neither, it doesn't pose a risk.
I think they are in there. And if it is a not a great enough dosage i do not see the point of buying the product. I could be wrong. I'd like to hear good/bad experiances from people who have used it, other than something like a birds feet turned yellow like it does if you feed chicks [not sure if that happens or not]

My vet said this "Based on your birds diet, vitamins are not a necessity but they will only help" So, I use them. Yarak
