I have a dialema here for everyone to ponder. A situation in which a hawk was killed happened recently and I was wondering what kind of point of views we would have. Given the situation, I tend to sit borderline between the two parties as both seemed to make mistakes that let to the end result. The details are limited as I heard it third hand so far.
OK, here it is.....A falconer was flying their hawk in a close evironment to houses while over a friends house(possibly squirrel hawking) when the bird checked off the quarry and flew into a neighbord yard. The bird bound to a Rat terrier.....By the time the falconer could get there the owner of the dog had come out with a baseball bat and killed the bird.......Game warden was called and apparently a citation was issued to the dog owner(I assume for killing a protected species). Now, my point is which side do you look at as being the guilty side? The owner of the dog did not know anything about Raptors as does most Joe publics and was protecting his dog against what he thought was an Eagle (even though he was what I would say, overdoing it) Now, The falconer did knowingly fly the bird in a neighborhood where this sort of situation could arise. The bird has, to my knowledge, never attacked a dog before either.
I personally, would of been furious at the individual for doing something like that and would of possibly beat him with his own bat for spite.......But......Think about this.....what would you do if a bobcat came running into your back yard and attacked your dog....Me, I would run out ther and kick the crap out of the bobcat right? Then some guy comes running into my yard yelling at me saying that's my hunting partner you just killed..........
