I'm waiting to hear from my sponsor but in the meantime here's the issue:
Liluye, FPRT, has a scrape on the bottom of her foot from bating off her perch. When I took her out this morning it was bleeding a bit so I cleaned it with betadine/water and Epsom slat then put flour on it to stop the bleeding. It doesn’t look bad and it’s clean and not infected nor warm to the tough. I wash her feet often so they are clean – but it’s still bleeding a little bit while she’s in the mew hopping around.
Her perches are covered with indoor/outdoor carpeting and to make it softer I put foam pipe insulation underneath that this morning and cleaned the perches to prevent infection. My question is that since her foot is scraped on the bottom the “carpeting” on the perch seems a little rough – I was thinking about putting a towel on the bar for a few days so the perch would be ultra soft and not scratch her foot at all but I’m not sure if that’s a good idea or if there is a better thing to do.
To make matters worse I have to go out of town tonight for two days (my wife’s at the house looking after Liluye) last minute and I’m leaving in a few hours…………
Put neosporin on the wound. Twice a day would be great.
Since there is an injury, wash the perches as often as possible, daily is best.
Change to 'daisy' long leaf astroturf as soon as you can.
Keep the betadine and neosporin in you hawking bag for bits. You probably have the betadine but I suggest adding the neosporin, squirrel bits can go bad really fast and neosporin helps stop the infection.
