I have noticed some differences in Annaliese in the past few days. Weight fluctuations, and a bit of lethargy. So of course a trip to the vet is due. After a full fecal and blood work the results are here. My first guess is true. Coccidia was present in the fecal, but very minor. Not the worst news. It was caught very early. I also opted for the blood work. I wanted to get the complete picture. Annaliese's white count was not good. We will be going in and drawing more blood for a serology analysis for West Nile. Yes, I am worried, but Annaliese's spirit is still up. This keeps me hopeful and feeling a bit better. She is a piece of work. My super footy bird with a ton of attitude is up for the challenge. She is strong. I need to be the same and help her in anyway I can. Please everyone keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Annaliese will get the best help that I can provide. Day by day. We will make it.
Her white count was not low, it was the opposite, very high. She is fighting off something. As a precaution she is on Asper meds just to be safe. The good thing is her energy is back and she was ornery as heck yesterday and this morning at med time. She was doing her stomp routine in full effect, and was full of P&V
Joe, I know Vickie pretty well. She helped save my golden when he had asper. I have been to her facility a couple of times and have flown eagles for her when she gets them in. You couldn't get a better vet. Tell her I said Hi next time you see her.
Annaliese is looking like her old self. She is very active again and there are no more weight fluctuations. The stress she had seems to be gone being she dropped two primary feathers today. The last blood test is still on its way to Georgia for the WN test, and I hope it comes back next week with good results. I will update if any thing changes or when the test gets back.
The serology test results are back. Annaliese did have a full blown case of WN. I received the call this afternoon. I headed to the vet and we drew more blood to see how her white count looks. She seems to be back to her old self, so I am hoping she has beat it. We will see tomorrow. If her blood count looks good then everything goes back to normal, if not, back on the asper meds she will go. I am hoping for the best for Annaliese and hope she has beat it and even better given herself a natural immunity to the virus.
She is a tough ornery girl, and I think she will pull through. I am just waiting for my phone to ring with the results of the blood work. Thanks for everyone's support.
