Is this a newly trapped bird? If so a mute sample should be taken to the vet for a worm check regardless if he/she is 3 hours away or 3 days away. Most birds will come in with them and this will affect training when you have a parasite eating away at the food your giving your bird.
That wouldn't explain the wheezing though would it? It should be done regardless but if there is wheezing than you may have another more serious problem. One thing my sponsor pointed out is though the possibility isn't quite as common as others she may have sour crop. I don't believe it is a common symptom for sour crop but when my sponsers other apprentice dropped his birds weight too fast the bird got sour crop and it was producing a wheezing sound. I could be wrong but something you may want to look into. How does her throat look?
"You're a smart kid Johny, you really are, but as long as I'm around you'll only be second best." The Godfather
You can smell sour crop from a mile away as it is Rancid meat. My bird wheezes for time to time and I even had her checked out for asper. No problems where found.
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day; give him a religion................ and he'll starve to death while praying for a fish."
No this is the same rehabb bird I've been working with for awhile.
Found out neighbors are on vacation...
Well, She hasnt flicked since yeterday morning. I also think It must of been my imagination that she weezed. She doesnt have diarrhea .. and doesnt have sour crop.
I talked to a teacher today and he suggested it might have been a psychological thing considering she started eating after I started to hand feed her. He thinks it might have grown attached to tibits on the glove during the feeding on the ground much like feeding hound dogs by hand will result with the dogs refusing the bowl and strictly eating from your hand. Only thing is after school when I fed her today she really could care less about the tidbits on my glove.
Im fairly confident it was a false alarm, But it would be very very bad timing if somthing did happen. Sponser is down south.. wont be back till november and Neighbors wont be back till monday.
I talked to my sponser about it once he got back and his conclusion was that possibly she did not cast a pellet yet, and she didnt want to put food on top of it. Honestly ( trying to think back 2 weeks later ) I believe that I do remember her casting. Or maybe she didnt cast it all of it.
