I checked out Montana Leather Company through thier website. The leather sounds good, 1.4mm. but it is really really expensive at $165.00 a hide. and $85 for a half.
I just got a decent 3oz 15 sq ft cow hide from the leather guy. Was about 35 bucks including shipping off ebay. I'm honestly not experienced enough to tell if it's "great" leather or not.
When cutting from a kangaroo hide always stretch the area you are going to cut from in both directions. One direction will stretch more than the other. Cut in the direction that stretches the least. The finished piece will be much stronger.
