Since this has come up recently i felt it would be a good idea to compile everything in one place.
There is always mikesfalconry.com and northwoodsfalconry.com. I have heard good reviews of onlinefalconry.com as well. this was recently posted on another site-
Hmm? I posted this info already but dont see it so will do it again. Sorry. I use Kangaroo of the same thickness for everything. Hoods, anklets, jess's. I buy it from Sheridan Leathers, Sheridan wyoming. If you will tell them you are a Falconer and what your looking for, they will search individual hides to try and get the perfect hide for you. Also askfor a sample card with your order and they will send you a color card. I use vegetable tanned Roo,used for falconry. The card will say this on it. I like the Natural color. you can then stain it for hoods. A whole hide will run you about $50.00 or so,but I bought this hide a year ago so prices may have gone up. Its important to cut the leather from the correct place on the hide for your particular project. If you do you should have no troubles,if not you may have hoods twist or jess's break, etc. Good Luck.

I bought my full kangaroo hide from Western Sporting for less than $100 - split it with my sponsor. I haven't worked with kangaroo leather before, but compared to the buckskin, elk, and bovine I've worked with in the past in other endeavors, it looks like a good hide.
They also carry quite a bit of falconry equipment.
I go to the local renaissance fair. The Leather Guy sets up shop there, and has some awesome stuff marked as scrap!!! None is Kangaroo though. All cow scrap. I bought two hides today that look to be almost full cowhides (maybe minus the bellies) for $16 total (they look like the 'red' and 'burgandy' hides listed under the cowhide link on his site). Its good leather too. His website is: www.theleatherguy.org/ and he has an ebay store where some stuff is cheaper.
ALWAYS check the Renaissance Fairs! Scrap tables! It is cheap leather that you can get good stuff. Used it for some hoods and it is awesome!
FB - Sorry if I posted this somewhere else too. I'm not sure though.
I purchased some Roo leather from an Ebay seller in Australia, and I believe that I won the whole hide for around $42 including shipping. I guess that I need to look at the hide more closely before cutting anklets and such, because some items that I have made I was able to rip in half with my bare hands, and others were stronger than cowhide with double possibly even triple the thickness. So this has caused me to be very cautious before fitting equipment. Is there any "grain orientation" with Roo? Or could there just be that much variance in the thickness on this one hide?
david, i bought some roo in australia three years back, and i have had the same results, the anklets i made from the edges stretched easily, and my lanner tore of her bell bewit, but the anklets i made from the back (middle part) is strong as hell
2010 season: Firefly- daisy cutting rhab peregrine, problem child Caspian- tiercel lanner, and hopefully a high flying killer

If we are thinking of the same seller they will have hides labeled as falconry grade, then inside the auction they will say not falconry grade, or just say the hide is .2-.3mm thick, way too thin for most falconry purposes.

I bought two hides from him. His ebay name is amazingoz. Make sure the leather is labeled falconry grade as FB said. I bought one way too thin, and one is not stiff enough. The floppy hide is good for braces for hoods, and waterbug said that the .6mm should be fine as a glove overlay. But make sure of the thickness before buying.
