I just bought a Buck 110 Folding Hunter, www.quickknife.com/110.html, my uncle has had the exact same knife for 25 years, its extremly well built, its blade is made of really nice quaility steel. doesnt have a double coat on it (steel over steel, so when u sharpen it you dont find another thing of steel inside the blade) and i can open and close this with one hand. that and it has a life time warrenty, they will repair it, sharpen if needed, etc.

I am never without my McWilliams Henry tactical clip folding knife. Not specifically designed for hunting, blade design and length would work. I guess the only time I wouldn't wear it would be through airports, etc. I have a bit of a knife fetish (asexual). Love well made knives ! Can't beat a Buck for quality and standing behind their products. A friend and I skinned and boned out a large elk with my Buck Hunter and didn't have to touch up the blade once. I love my little Schrade "Sharp Finger". Wicked looking, but a wonderful skinner and small game knife. Wish I could do some forging, but I don't need another hobby.
hmmm, ever seen the movie Rmbo? I got a knife like the one off that. From china, stainless steel, cost about 50p. I'm sorry but you just can't beat that.
Got a hollow handle with a built in compass, and I've shoved matches and a needle and thread in the handle (needle and thread mainly for sewing ME up)
When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze
world war II ghurka with both utillity blade and sharpening steel.
Ok your wright I'm not stupid enough to take a blade like that hunting. I have that blade but I have an old Ruko lock blade and a leathr awl that I pack when out hawking. The ghurka I got when my father-in-law passed away, he got it at the end of the second world war while the where transporting ghurka soldiers back to Napal. During the war he was a gunner on an escort helping ship run the guantel of u-boat across the North Atlantic After that while still in service he helped transport troops back to their home lands through out the middle east.
I do like my bench made knife. Never seems to dull. (Not for hunting purposes.)
I recently became the proud recipient of a Falknersheil. I was wondering if anyone else actually uses one for falconry or has one but prefers to leave it on the shelf? It's definitely a well made tool. It was designed with the falconer in mind. If anyone does use one, is there a special method or way to use one. The knife looks like it was crafted for specific use.

I use shears. I just feel its a bit safer. If the shears get grabbed that's one thing, a knife blade is another. Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away

you don't hear much about "Ruko" knives, I got one as a gift a few years ago and am happy with it.
I have a pair of game shears in my hawking bag. I do like them and use them often. I just thought that the Falknersheil was a cool gift and thought there might be some others out there who use one.
Doesn't seem to be too common with many of the newer falconers. Some of the old ones around my neck of the woods still use a knife over shears.
