Hey guys just wanted to let you guys know how the mods are going on the avery vest.
This is what it started as:
(pictures courtesy of skyrider/oldguy from other thread)
Okay so... first things first (and so far my only step), I removed the shot shell loops, they really didn't have much of a purpose, and they were in the way of what I wanted to put in (they weren't stretchy either). I will get pictures up asap of what it looks like now.
My next step will be to get a hole punch, gromet setter, and gromets. I will hole punch 3 holes on the bottom of each pocket flap (where the whole punch used to be). I will put grommets in those, and use them as spare jess holders (having three extra jesses in the field should be good right?)
Any other ideas for mods would be greatly appreciated, that's all i can think about.

Wolfs are made for bullets.. not shot gun shells... there for smaller.. i like wolfs bag.. but ima go with a vest.
morgan, u gotta get sum pics up soon with ur mods to the vest! how bout getting one of those metal climbing clips? that come in like blue.. green.. red..brown.. orginal metal color.. etc. (THE THING ON WOLFS BAG! lol on the right) that have those clips, sewing in that to a strap, hold hood?
You know, ive tried those beeners for hoding hoods and it is a pain in the backside gettin off one handed. I use a over sized safety pin to hold my hood, i have 2 gromets to hold jesses, i have a beener to hold my glove(small bird glove had gromet, large bird glove has d-ring). I also make a copy of my permits and put them in a ziplock and never take them out. The safety pin is sewn on using waxed saddle thread, never had a prob with this method! Hope this helps someone.
Matt - i think you're referring to carabiners. I had planned on having the safety pins... i'd have pictures up but my sisters digital camera isn't here.
I use a large diaper pin for holding my hood. I stick the pin right through the shoulder strap and use it that way. I also put grommets in the flap of my hawking vest pocket and attach a very small diameter leash line about 2 feet long with a french clip on it to attach to the bird once it is on the game. This small diameter leash works even on the eagle and it is easy to attach to the flying jesses. I don't carry an extra set of jesses when I am in the field because the leash line with the clip can also attach to the grommets in the anklets.
My package came today! My grommet-setters. I was soooo excited. I put 4 grommets into the flaps (2 on each side) for jesses. I've sewn a diaper safety pin into the strap (for the hood). I will get pictures up as soon as possible. The grommet pliers are really cool, but are pretty hard to use.
