The kit is adequate. And it is convenient buying it all in one fell swoop. However, you pay a premium for that convenience. You can save a ton, even if you can't make your own stuff, by shopping for bargins on ebay. Some of the people in your falconry club will probably be happy to throw in a few things. Look at the "Scales" thread on this site to save over $100 on a good set of scales (required, you know). I can get you a bow perch for @ $70, shipping and all. Noel has a source for perches to, i think. A welders glove is all you need for a RT. Get your swivels, snaps and bells from Mikes. Get help making or buying the rest. This can get expensive, so watch your pennies!!!
Sully, I'm with ya on that.....There is an air of anticipation on when that truck will roll in to deliver the goods. It's part of the fun as you piece the items together bit by bit. ;D

Mikes sells a how to book for about $31 and you can purchase Kangaroo hides off EBAY for as little as $26 plus shipping.OLDWILLKNOTT will sell you a set of scales there also.Good place to look for stuff if you are not in a hurry--Jim

Exactly! I still race home from work to check the mail box and then sulk inside when nothings there.....

I got the kit from northwoods and it had everything I needed... But the perches I got (portable bow and regular bow perch) rusted after a season even though they were supposed to have "baked on" paint or whatever.
I am going to try to resurface them with bedliner stuff for a truck... after trying various outdoor paints...
I would buy stainless if I had to do it over again, also the creance is just a PVC thing with lots of line. You could make it very cheap at a hardware store. The digital scale I got with the T-perch was very good and It is much easier to use than a triple beam.
I think you can still get a discount on the kits and not get everything in the kit. Like if you have your own scale and perch from ebay... you coule just delete those items from the kit and still get the discounted %... Atleast thats what Northwoods said when I bought one from them...you could try...
