Well, just out of curiosity, i was wondering about those of you flying red tails, about how they hunt.
Kit isnt exactly the traditional flying brick red tail, she loves the tail chase. and she does it well if the game 'cooperates'
she has never been a fan of the 'floating over' technique, when they take off the perch, glide over, and just drop wings and fall to earth with the hammer of god. ive noticed that what she does do, is take off the perch, do a steep angle, spread her wings and by doing so, keeps her speed and skims the ground to try and get the rabbit, when shes close enough, she usually puts on the afterburners. this has always been her technique, but lately, she has started to do the traditional flying brick manouver, but not to its fullest extent.
at times though, it really would be nice to see her use her ~2lbs of force to blow through the bushes and grab those damn rabbits, but oh well, im always pleased with her flights even if they dont involve a rabbit squeal at the end
