Well, I guess I missed the signs!! But my little 8 lbs. male mini-D bunny buster, Cobie, sure didn't. My 7-year old son came up and woke me up this morning asking what the problem with Cobie and Bayli (8 lbs mini-D from Susan Fuller) was. I came downstairs and saw that they were "tied up", if you know what I mean.
I got out of having to give the birds-n-bees talk by telling him that it was something that dogs do from time to time. To which he replied, "Well that's the third time I've seen them "tied" in the last two days." So, I was going to breed them one more time this coming spring, but I guess they beat me to it. Both of these dogs are just outstanding bunny and hole dogs.
Cobie was bred by a falconer named Bill Boler. He's very small for a male and has an incredible hunting drive. The female Bayli is a great jump dog and does some good hole work as well. The pups from the first litter have turned out well and have shown a lot of strong hunt. RT has a little female that he had going down holes after San Juans at 3-4 months and another falconer from KY has killed double digit bunnies with his FRT over his little male.
If anyone is interested, the pups should be ready to take home by the end of April and will be ready for field work this fall. Think of it, Now you'll have something falconry-related to do this spring/summer (training your pup) other than mending equipment and dreaming of the upcoming season.
They will all be black and tan mini-longhaired, AKC registered, and should be under 9lbs. I'll be charging what Teddy charges for dogs from her line, which is $500 per pup, male or female. The pups will come with full AKC registration and breeding rights and I will be starting their training at about 4- 5 weeks old on bunny drags and San Juans.
If you're interested and would like to be put on the list, send me a PM. Once the pups are on the ground, I'll be asking for a $50 deposit to hold your pup.
