No but if it is a coon hound the only thing you have to worry about is if the dog chases the quarry too long. The bird will feel uncomfertable dropping for a kill if the dog is already right on top of your quarry. Can you restrain the dog or train if not to chase quarry? Also what do you plan on hunting?

I am going to be working with a Bluetick pup will train him to come to me when I Hoohaw the quarry.Alert for the Hawk and call in the dog same time.Training collars make it easier to train dogs these days as you get their attention even on a hot chase. We use it now to break dogs off of OFF game-Deer,Possums etc....as they are coon dogs its neccesary as off game will get them scratched in competitive hunting.Smart dogs but they can be a little distracted when the scents hot.Walkers do the same I got one in the Kennel right now belongs to my son-in-law decent dog fast on track not as accurate on cold trails as my Blue dogs.--Jim

Good luck with the bluetick, I am interested to know how that works out. Coonhounds are such a driven, and some times hard headed breed of dogs calling them off something is a challenge at times.
