I am curious if any one has taken a rescue dog or one that hunts on its own and trained it to help out during falconry. My dog finds it completly entertaining to catch squirrels in our backyard, which in turns takes down the squirrel population. So, is this a good dog to start with or should just leave out dogs till I really am hunting rabbits and other creature?
Never settle.

Oops! I forgot to add my other dog, Odie, is a retriever. So in his case should I just let him retrieve or retrain him?
Never settle.

My rat terrier takes it upon herself to rid the ranch of those pesky Jack rabbits. She actually managed to kill one herself after chasing it for quite awhile into some deep brush at night.....The rabbit was bigger than her.

Maybe you and my dog should start a club together, since you both hate coyotes. She was the one that attacked the coyote.
Never settle.

You got bit by a coyote? i am a little confused. Anyway I don't know where you guys are from but the coyotes we have in Maine are about twice the size of the western ones. They have done DNA tests and found that they are actually part coyote and part wolf..not DOG! Haha, gosh, i hate hearing people say coydogs cuz geuss what? they aren't part dog. To coyotes dogs are enemies. Coyotes started showing up in maine in the late 50's early 60's. Anyway when man has wiped himself off of the earth i bet they will still be around. The sundog, love em, hate em, whatever another hunter like our hawks and i'll tell yah what. To a lot of people, the only good hawk is a dead hawk. The very animals we revere and love. Predators have always been so maligned but they are just doing what everything does, surviving.

I live in Texas, Dallas/ Fort Worth area. So maybe we can start a virtual club. the Coyotes here are about medium dog size to large. I keep seeing fewer and fewer around here. I think it is all the new construction. So maybe we can outlast the coyote.
Never settle.

[glow=purple,2,300]I didn't know where to put this comment, so since we are talking about dogs this might be the right spot. My dog has recently caught her 11th squirrel. All 10 times before she has caught them while i was at school but today i was home when she caught this one. Man do squirrels scream! I was inside at the time and i thought maybe a toddler had ventured into out backyard and cookie had mistaken it for a dog toy. NO that wasn't the case, she was shaking that little sucker! She acted as if she had to sneeze but in a speedy way(shaking her head). Does anyone have some magical potion though that can give my dog wings? She would be a great squirell dawk. Yeah a little off suubject (not be much give me some credit there)[/glow]

[glow=purple,2,300]Lol, now just to find the little rabbits, i wonder if cookie could chase the squirrel to a branch were the bird can get. lol, i have seen cookie climb trees it is really cool! well, technically, jump up the jump and fall down. ;D lets see all the stuff cookie goes after, squirrels ( she thinks they are evil) rabbits, rats, cats, lizards, fish( interesting watch a dog fish) armadillos, and any animal smaller than her ;D lol [/glow]
Never settle.
