Well today i got confronted with a tough choice. Some jackass down the road said if he saw Copper in his yard, he was gonna call the humane socity. I know he was serious, as he called them when my shepard wondered over there once. So today i made the hardest decision, to let her go. I simply could not handle her running across roads and threw peoples yards. So i gave her to a lady up the road who has 200 acres and 7 dogs. She is also is an active fox hunter. I figure Copper will have a better life running 200 acres every day then being penned up in my house or being shocked by a fence. Did i make the right choice? -A very sad FB

Always a tough choice but as to wheather it was right or wrong that is for you to decide. beagles follow their noise they get on a scent and all else shots down I'm told. You gave him up and he went to some one who understands hounds. He'll have a blast there I'm sure. Youo put his needs before your own for that I give you my respect too many people put themselves before the welfare of their animals and try to force their will upon them. What do you end up with often a dog that's not as good as it could be. My niece trians dogs and has a rotti that she uses for obediance compotitions. She won her last show she talks to her dogs and they listen never have I heard her scream or impose her self. Her dogs do well at shows and if she can make a dog work for what she needs she finds it a good home where all will be happy. So good job and take some sollcie in that Copper will be very happy going on fox hunts.
I am sorry to hear about your decision to give Copper away, but only you know what is the right to do for yourself and Copper. I put up a simple chicken wire fence for Storm at hardly no expense and it works fine. I highly reccomend that anyone who owns a dog put up a fence for the dogs safety and to eliminate many headaches for yourself.
HEY!!!!!!.....wasn't there a cartoon by disney about a beagle named copper that was on a fox hunt?....Hmmmmm.......coinsidence?........

You did the right thing by your dog but it sounds like to me that the people next door are just nasty and sorry to say but your probably have more problems from them anyways
Hey fb i think you did the right thing by your dog. and if you ever get into the situion agian put the chiken wire under ground so they cant go under it. that is what we did for my beagle.

Believe me, i had to make a very similar choice recently, it was the right one. It feels bad now, but when you see how happy Copper is, playing with six dogs, galavanting across 600 acres, and hunting fox-instead of being shocked or stuck in some pen in the pound, you'll have no doubts. Sorry, i know it sucks.

Yeah it sucks, but i know she is loving life there. I run by this ladies house every now and again and play with the dogs a bit. Even got to go on a fox hunt, copper was right on ones ass for about 100yrds, then it went down a hole

If the dog is digging out, you can also lay the chicken wire from the fence along the ground and stake the edges. Easier sometimes and they tend to hate digging at it. Plus grass will grow through it and help anchor it.
But it is cool that he got such a great new home.
