Hi everyone, it's been a long time coming but I finally have the time to dedicate and commit to pursuing falconry. The problem is, other than reading all of the available online info I can find regarding state specific instructions and what not, I'm not sure of what else to do. Does anyone know how long it normally takes the Department of Fish and Wildlife to send out Falconry packages? And how long did it take for you to plan, purchase all legal and required items, and build your mew? Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!
You can read everything on the State website that they will send you in the "packet" I would place studying for the exam first. Get a good book or two and read them. The modern apprentice website is worth reading throughly. Join you states club, the best way to meet a sponsor. I would not spent any money on supplies or a mews until you connect with a sponsor. I wanted a kestrel, but could not get a sponsor who had experience with one. You would hate to buy or build something then have to redo it because it will not meet standards. This is the role of the sponsor.
