here is a copy of my state laws
www.azgfd.gov/eservices/special_licenses/pdfs/rules/R12-4-422.pdf
this is what it says about indoor facilities
1. Indoor facilities.
a. An area large enough to allow easy
access for caring for the raptors housed in
the facility;
b. An area for each bird large enough to allow each raptor to fully extend its
wings, with perches textured
to prevent foot problems;
c. At least one window, protected on the in
side by vertical bars, spaced narrower
than the width of the raptor's body, and a door that can be easily closed and
secured;
d. A well drained floor designed to permit easy cleaning;
e. Tethers or partitions separating each ra
ptor, if the licensee is keeping more than
one raptor in the same facility.
What exactly does a 'well drained floor' mean?
If I designed an indoor unit in the fashion of modern bird cages, where the droppings go through the bottom of the cage and onto a tray that can be pulled out and cleaned, is that considered well drained?
Also if I put this unit in a large room with 2 large windows, would the window be counted if the unit was up against it, or does the window have to be technically fully inside the unit? because the window has to be barred off anyway, so if you just put the 'cage' up against the window would this satisfy both requirements?
As for the design of this facility, I was thinking of a solid PVC structure, with foam wrapped around the PVC as a bumper, and then black soft netting sealing it in.
thanks for reading. I am really trying my best to figure out a good way for me and the bird to get into this hobby.
