I have been interested in learning about falconry for about 7 or so years. I am now at a point to where I can commit both the time and money to get involved in the sport. I have looked at the state association website and it seems to be abandoned. I have already sent in a request to the wildlife dept. for a list of falconers in the state.
I am hoping to find current general or master falconers on here to chat with or meet so that I can learn more before I get started. The more info I can get the better prepared I can be.

@falconboy - Oops! usmcsgt - Sadly, the season is over for most falconers right now, I doubt you'd be able to go watch any hunts.. Hopefully someone on here will chime in if they're in kansas! Another place to check is on facebook. Many falconers countrywide are in the same groups, posting a comment on one of their walls may be the best way to get a hold of someone! The state department typically will provide falconers phone numbers and addresses if asked! Thats how i found my sponsor. I hope you find someone, this sport changed ny life!
I have found a married couple that I can speak with about 30-45 minutes away. Although I will not ask them to sponsor me. They are in the SCA like me and on their way back from an event their car caught fire and was unable to get their 4 birds out before the fire spread to the entire vehicle.
I should be getting my packet and list of falconers in the next couple of days. I'll update you all on my progress.
I have a meeting set up for next week. I am going to take a look at their mews and do a bit of chatting. If all goes well then I will have a sponsor. It helped that we both know some of the same people.
I live in KCMO. I could help you find someone around the area. I had the hardest time finding someone in my part of the state so my sponsor is actually out of Stilwell Kansas.
