Hello everyone, I'm trying to figure out what type of floor to use for my mews when it comes time to build. I'm thinking about sand or AstroTurf, but sand seems pretty prone to mold. What do you guys recommend? Also, how do y'all keep mold OUT? I'm probably overthinking the mold thing, but I would like to get some opinions. Thanks, Bosshawk.

Sand can cause crop impaction if enjested and as you mention, holds mold spores when not exposed to direct UV. Mold can be problem and a hawk in low respiratory condition from prolonged exposure to it can develop asper.
I personally use 4" pea gravel and cover it with Astroturf carpet. I've found it to be great for keeping sharp talons and easy to clean every few weeks with a hose.
These types of decisions should be made with your sponsor and be based off site location and drainage as was mentioned above.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I'll keep that in mind. And as Cryss said, I will be sure to include an adequate drainage system in the final mews design.
