i just got off the phone with TPW with questions about upgrading.
i know to upgrade you must have 2 calander years, 730 days, from the day you are issued you permit.
there is a catch. i am coming up on my 2nd year. earlier this year i lost my RT after 2 months. so i called to ask if i keep my bird for 2 months will i be able to upgrade.
they also start the time you have your bird from your permit date. since i was permited 10/24/08 they counted the time i had my kestrel toward year 1. in 09 i trapped my RT on 11/30 and lost it 1/27/10, 2 months of time. i trapped the HH on 10/1/10. on 10/24/10 the time i have with my rt and HH will vanish and i will start all over from 0.
now this is improtant cause i will need to keep the bird till almost march, 2/24/11, and not 4 months from 10/1/10
not upset, just letting people know how the state of texas sees things. if you lose a bird you might want to check with your state to see how it will affect your upgrade.
I believe most states require that you have your permit as an apprentice for 2 years and for 6 months of each year have a bird on your permit in order to upgrade.

If I were your sponsor I think I would not upgrade you based on your track record. Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away
I know in New York you have to have your permit for atleast 2 years and out of those 2 years 12 months have to be with a bird you can do 12 months straight or 6 each year how ever you choose.
