Hannibal went into the moult very early in January this year and now is 90% done so i thought i would stretch his wings for a day before some serious muscle building and first flight he came up with this. Oh what joys for the coming season ;D

Good show HH. It's getting me jumpy seeing that little bloody mess on the ground. It's almost time.
Do you have more pics of your bird? I know he was sold to you as a Harlans or dark morph or something like that and it looks like he may have molted out like a typical RT. Not that it matters just curious if you have any pics of him in his new clothes.

Thanks. Yeah he was sold to me as a Harlan but I think most of us had our Doubts including me. Although he has darkened up quite substantially. More of a Heavy Ginger. He is a Fantastic hunter so no matter but it’s just interesting to know. I will get some piccies up. He still has a few primaries to go which is why I have put him back to flying weight and training to get fit. There are just too many baby rabbits. If I let him he could take 20 a day which is no fun and would be a pain in the arse! Squizzer flights in foliage ridden summer trees are no fun either. I think just an unaware young squizzer on the ground was an easy take but it’s great to see, it pays off all those squizzers fed in the moult.

Congratulations!!! Here's to many many more kills in your bag this season! ;D
"Falconry is not a hobby or an amusement; it is a rage. You eat and drink it, sleep it and think it. You tremble to write of it, even in recollection. It is as King James the First remarked, an extreme stirrer up of passions." --- T.H. White
Looks about the same as the ones I see around here, which would be either Eastern or Florida. Although its entirely possible that he's a mix of several different birds. They just vary so much even within subspecies that he could be just about anything.
Gorgeous bird regardless.
"...no hobby should either seek or need rational justification. To find reasons why it is useful or beneficial converts it at once from an avocation into an industry, lowers it at once to the ignominious category of an exercise undertaken for health, power or profit." -Aldo Leopold
