Hey guys, I was just wanting some input from you guys on what type of dog you think would be best for rabbit hunting. I have thought about the beagle and doxi but i am not a real fan of small dogs so any breeds that are larger are definitely welcome.
Brittanys are good on rabbits they just can't get into the tight bushes but for rabbits i would go for a jack russel or rat terrier both of those breeds are awesome on rabbits

I am going to stick with the vesla. good on fur and feather. the thing I looked at is it is a dog for any bird you get. birds come and go but a good dog is something that you have to stick with, you cant release it back to the wild.
May sound weird, but since basset hounds are naturaly bred to hunt rabbits, that's what i'm training to flush. So far so good, my 8mo old basset does a great job at it. The only possible drawback is that she's not as fast as they are, but she sure can get to where they think they can hide

I agree. My girl is still only 6 mo old and is very gamey. She's got lots of speed and is pretty thick skinned. And to top it off, she's a looker! Here's a pic:
