I heard both a red tail and bald eagle calling. After moving a bit closer to investigate, I saw they were sitting in the same tree just feet from each other. The eagle was mainly silent, but the RT was screaming it's head off. However, I noticed another raptor like call, but couldn't quite identify where it came from, and could never get a visual on the bird that was making it. It was a bit like an osprey, but it was ascending in pitch, and a bit more "full bodied". Then I went and listened to Harris's hawks online since I couldn't quite remember what they sounded like, and it bears a close resemblance.
Harris's hawks are obviously NOT native to this area (VA), so here's where the falconry related part comes in. Does anyone know of a "lost and found" for falconry birds exists, if one exists at all? Or if anyone has any better ideas as to what this call may have been?
I'm obviously not a falconer - just a bird nut that loves raptors and would like to get involved with falconry someday. Just trying to see if I could help what may be a very lost bird....

The next is our Sponsor Finder thread that has people in Virginia that are able to sponsor (meaning they are licensed falconers) or members who were or are looking for sponsors.
