I was thinking that it would be okay to feed my Red-Tailed Hawk bits of deer that my father killed (easy and abundant food source I thought ). Would this be okay even though it's not its natural diet? How about Turkey?
Note: I don't have a RT yet, still pre apprentice waiting to trap.
Generally you feed them a full-animal diet, which INCLUDES : any feathers or fur, bones, meat, organs (depending on animal). They'll eat any meat normally, but that doesn't always mean it's the best you can give them. I'd guess that deer and turkey don't have the best nutrients for a red tail, and that I'd just order what you sponsor says you should. It's simpler and you know you're getting the best for your bird.
