HI all My F R/T seems to have dislocated her middle toe on her left foot last Fri. 1/9 After calling my sponser he said to try to straiten the toe out and if that worked put her in her box so she would not bate around and mess it up. The toe joint popped right back in place and was doing fine. I've been feeding her by having her stand on the glove and bending over to a feeding tray of cut up meat today she managed to grab at the meat with her left foot and all was good till she stepped back to the glove she dislocated it again. Once again I popped it right back into place and put her up. Has anyone dealt with this ? Here is a pic from when it happened

Take her to a vet.
If it pops back out again that easy, chances are some damage has been done to allow it, and the more it pops out the less likely it's ever going to stay in for good. She needs a professional or it's going to become a permanent problem. The toe probably needs some kind of brace or splint, and if it's not done right it can do more damage.
My first eagle had a dislocated toe when I trapped her. I took her to the vet and he tried to splint the toe, but, the eagle would just rip the bandages off. She eventually was fine and you would never have known it was dislocated.
Thanks and I'm pretty sure thats what my bird will do as well she is always trying to pull her bells off. I'm waiting on the vet to call and talk to him about it.
Talked to vet today and he said to splint it or to try to tape it would just make her pull at it and may make it worse he said to keep doing what I'm doing and it should heal up fine. Thanks for the replies

I am NOT a VET. My bird wore a splint and a huge bandage after reattachment of a tendon. She did NOT pick at it. The entire foot was wrapped in such a way as too keep the toe fully extended. It looked as though she had a tennis ball in her foot. 8 weeks. Not once did she pick on it. So, I think you should try to splint it. Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away

Not enough information on the bird's injury, IMO. I'd want to know the extent of the joint damage... why the toe's not staying in place. Just immobilizing the toe/foot may not be the solution. As you noted, your bird needed tendon reattachment. Something might need surgical repair on this hawk's foot too.
A flacid toe on a pet tweety bird might not concern a vet. It won't impair the bird much. But a dislocated flacid toe on a hunting hawk? That's a whole different matter.
Jason, the vet hasn't even seen the bird, so how can he possibly know that nothing needs to be done? Get the foot examined, and maybe an x-ray. Don't delay. It happened 6 days ago.
