I noticed in another thread a falconer saying his RT had caught a turkey once. I was wondering if anyone had anyone else had had a similar experience ?
there is an article in american falconry, and there is a pic of a guy and his RT with a giant turkey they caught! it was amazing, that turkey was HUGE.

It is not rcommened to go for turkey intentionally. Your hawk could easily get it's butt kicked. Those spurs are formidable weapons. It happens but it's rare and it takes a lucky shot.

in Texas we have tags on our hunting license to take turkey, so if my bird takes one and it's in season we are having turkey for dinner. i think in states that have a season and your bird takes one in season that is a legal take. or are you all saying it's not legal by means of falconry in some states no matter what?
My PFRT has taken one Jake. No problem what so ever. She hit it in the head and was already plucking the neck when I got there. I plan on hunting them whenever possible. Turkey is listed as a game bird and Texas Law says falconers can take one game bird per day per raptor. I called Jennifer at TPWD and she said that was true but she thought they needed tagged. They need to send me some extra tags, I'm gonna need em !

go get'em dude ! i know they need tagged here in Tx. but i don't know if there is an exception for raptors taking them or if they will issue extra tags for the purpose of falconry. that will be good for you to look in to since you live in turkey country.

correct in nc a falconry licence only entitles you to take small game even if you have your big game tags

I'm sorry, but you said "it's impossible" when you really meant "I don't know how yet".
