Amazing work! For an average size painting like maybe a 16" x 20" (not sure what standard dimensions are in the UK) about how long does it take you? Your attention to detail is outstanding!

I flit in and out of my studio, so I have no idea how long things take, my next painting, I am going to make an effort to record how long it takes though... I am painting a fox next, so there will be a time difference between that and a bird... I paint in acrylics mainly, the drying time is so much quicker than oils, but I have used pencil crayon gouache and oil, I am an acrylic painter though, for lots of reasons... thanks guys for the comments.... I sell through my website and word of mouth, I have leaflets and cards in vets and pet shops etc.... would love to get involved with a gallery, I suppose that will be my next step... incidently, this is the finished piece, not much change from the last pic but I know what I have done lol...Paul
OK, I'm officially blown away. I particularly liked the saker. You grew up in Leeds? Close to the castle? I did part of my graduate studies in England. I lived in Dorking. I loved it and can't wait to get back. I would love to have one of your works. Right now the Drs will be getting all of my money (American system of Medicine, you see). I'll book mark your sight and check it often. Perhaps soon, you have one that i can afford.
Every one, if you haven't looked through Paul's site, do so. It is a real treat!

cheers bob, unforyunately Leeds castle is the other end of the country from Leeds... but I now live very close to Dorking... I am in farnham near guildford in Surrey.... the saker was a commission and belongs to a guy in scotland... thanks for the kind words, I hope you visit the site again... and should the opportunity arise I would be more than happy to immortalise your bird... for the record I only need a nice pose of the bird the rest I work into the painting, background prey etc... nice to make contact... Paul
I would love to have a painting of my gyr on a sage grouse. I'd love to have my gry on a sage grouse first, though. Sakers seem to be very popular over there. I had a tea towel from Dorking. One with the Dorking Cockerel on it. I bought it while i was over there. Many years later I brought some freshly killed game into the kitchen and i noticed that blood was dripping on the cabinets and floor. The first towel i grabbed was... guess what... right... my Dorking Cockerel keepsake. Ok, so i ruined it. But i got the blood cleaned up. Isn't that important? Not according to my wife. Unfortunately i haven't been able to find a replacement on line. If you find a link somewhere that i might have missed, i'd appreciate it. Just because we studied together in England, stayed in the same house in Dorking and fell in love in Dorking she gets all testy about a simple little lapse of reason. Go figure. I mean, it's a D@mn tea towel!
