thats cool, yeah i wanna get a rt too. I live in Forest grove, 45 mins from Portland. Finding game for a RT will be hard in this area.....i hear lots of rabbits out around Eugene area. I guess the squirrels in this area are gonna hate me lol.

I was flying a MRT but I released him. I had a lot of trouble with him breaking tail feathers. I fixed all the problems, or so I thought, until he yanked out 2 of his newly molted red tail feathers. I decided to release him before his entire tail was gone and fix the problem before I trap a new bird. I'm fixing the mew this weekend. I have a new capture permit and hope to go trapping within the next week or two.

Yeah good luck with that. I've been searching all over the west side of town and either no bunnies exist there at all or they are impossible to find. But if you cross the Williamette River to the east side of town you will find them everywhere. It is going to be a fair drive to go hunting rabbits every day. I'm also considering squirrels if I can find some spots to hunt them on the west side. I sure wish RT's could catch quail and ducks. Those seem to be no problem to find. I'm even thinking of trying soar hawking after river ducks and see how that works. We'll see.
I'm planning to get a FRT this time so I have the option of hunting squirrels.
I'm in Durham, myself - near Tigard/Tualatin/Lake Oswego for those who don't know it. Going to go take the test tomorrow afternoon, whee. Planning on flying a kestrel - the utter lack of rabbits up here would make a RT pretty difficult to hunt regularly.
Wayne Skankey. He's a great guy, I can already tell he'll be an awesome sponsor. Lots of fun to chat with, and he's had lots of experience with small falcons, which is perfect!
