Thanks for asking this question. I am interested in the answer as I live in Anacortes. Am an "apprentice wanna-be". I need to delay my real entry until I am through with current job, and have the time I understand is required. BUT, I would take a clas or course in a heartbeat. If it's numbers that are needed, count me in!

There aren't any falconry classes in WA that i know of, best bet is to get involved with the WA falconers association, they may hold an apprentice seminar or something of the sort.

Ethics make the individual, not the other way around.
Falcon Boy is right. I went to a WFA seminar a couple of years ago. There were apprentices, general, and master falconers in attendance. Brad Wood, Brian and Clifford Kellogg were speakers along with a couple other falconers. There were quite a variety of topics with different points of view. Also Brad gave a seminar the morning of the annual picnic.

Hey, was this seminar in Ellensburgh at a hotel? I went to one a couple years ago, the Kellogs were there along with Brad Wood and his son. There was a couple hooded peregrines. cliff brought his harris hawk and they cast it and demonstrated coping techniques. They had northwoods products spread out and Brian kellog had his dragon hoods. Very cool day, lots of good discussions.

Your best bet is to contact Fish and Game and get a falconry packet and a list of people who said they would sponsor. Those people will help you go in the direction you need to go. Doing your homework and getting the ball rolling before contacting anyone is a big plus to gaining them as a sponsor.
