My MRT has just had his first moult and starts his second season in about 6 weeks.
in his first year he really could not get to grips with feather a all. he slaughtered fur but corvids he just showed no interest at all.
he must have bombarded 100 pheasant on the ground only managing to catch very few. he quite often caught them 70% ofthe time but ended up with talons full of fearhers.
I know a RT angle of attack is not usually straight at the head and banging into its back feathers it's hard to get that grip but i am wondering how successful others have been with their RT's inthe pheasant department

In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.
My MRT is 0-for 1 on pheasant. Like you said, a hand full of feathers. I'm betting he takes it by the head the next time though. He learned that with turkeys ;D The first one was in the back, second one both feet on the head.
