If anyone on the board is from MT I would love some help finding falconry seasons and info for non-resident falconers (hunting not trapping) in MT. I looked on the state site but could only find info on big game. I will be in MT a lot in September and am hoping I can find out some info soon. Thanks!
Simone - you can get a copy of the falconry guidelines mailed to you via the Montana state website...hunting season for falconry starts the same time upland bird/waterfowl season starts for hunters but extends into April I believe...I'll have to double check myself. But you can get the entire booklet mailed to you. Where you spending time in MT? I'm in Missoula

I don't believe that MT has authorized out of state take yet. As our out of state hunting, I think that it is allowed, but there is paper work that is involved that I don't know anything about at this point. I might be able to get that info though. Where are you going to be at when you are here?
Ok. this is what I found. Got a hold of Tim Feldner (sp) with the MT FW&P Headquarters. What he told me was that MT recognizes WA falconry permits, and what you need to do is go to a vet, get a certificate of health, and get a hold of the Department of Live Stock @ 406-444-2976, and get an import permit. If I understand correctly, this is just incase you happen to loose your bird while here. Aside from that, Feldner said that and non residence hunting license is ballpark $110. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions. don't be afraid to ask. I'm not the most knowledgeable, but I do know a few people to ask to get the answers. Good hunting Milady.
