I'll look for my Owl references. I read an account in one of my UK owl books of a falconer who trained his Eagle Owl for a year, daily and managed to catch ONE head of game. I love the Owls I work with, a male GHO and a male Eagle-Owl. The GHO is an imprint and bonded to my sponsor. He is not a danger but does bite women. He does not try to foot me ever. The Eagle-Owl is a dufus. Lovely bird. Both were rescues. So not typical falconry owls at all. Both are very handleable and used as Ed. birds. I would hate to try to train either to do anything they did not want to do *LOL*
The flight of the raptor site had pretty birds but horrid costuming.
And no I don't think apprentices should take eyasses. Even with a good sponsor. Just my opinion.
