Plywood being put up: (Note, this wall, and the wall parallel to it, will have that Plywood with insulation on it)
Me taking a break after putting up said walls:
(i was crunching ice, thats why i look funny...)
we have a grate type of thing on the bottom, to allow for drainage, the pea gravel will sit on the concrete, and then go up about 3 or so inches, while the grate is 5 inches high, the concrete is graded to drain that direction. hardware cloth covering it now, and screening later for small bugs.
The overseer:
and just me being bored last night:
Ok, so it will have a 2' tall, 8' long window on the top of the wall that obviously, has a large space above it. then the door, which is on the wall that isnt started yet, will have a window on it. all windows will have shutters. so will the grate at the bottom
the cabinets that you see against the shed in some pictures, will be used on the side of the mew, on the outside, as storage, i even have a chalkboard that was behind a bunch of stuff, that i can use to quickly write down stuff as a log. we are gonna waterproof everything with a safe waterproofer.
Edit: and i forgot, on the outside of the two partially completed walls, we are gonna put siding, and then paint i the color of the house, so it looks just like the house. and not a random structure.

looks nice and its built into the house should work nicely. are you putting a double door on it though. I am all into the double door. that way when you walk in to the mew the bird isn't running for the hills. brother in law had to spend a full day of work just to go find his gos last yr, because he doesn't have the double door
also its Matt formally known as sparky formally known as Matt LOL

and heres that grate that we have... with cedar frame and screening... we had a LOT of random cedar laying around... lol
3-4 inches of pea gravel...
locking door... (needs a key, its deadbolt mauahaha)

may i sugest that the perches come out a little bit more off the walls. because when your bird turns to fly to a different perch it will put its tail right into the wall. it may be far enough away it just doesnt look like it from the picture. your bird would rather have its back to that wall perch anyways and the window one it will most likely facing but when it turns you might have a problem with tail damage. but it looks great!
