I like the mews a lot! I think it is pretty safe to say it is one of a kind. I would only worry about the cars running at Idle near the chamber. Need a NO IDLING ZONE sign.
I used to think i knew some things. But i'm not so sure anymore.
Seriously though, that's really cool! I've never seen that before. I like the innovative design, and how you have no problem with the home owners association, if they say something about it, you just roll it inside and then roll it back out when they're gone.
Needless to say, my home owners association has no idea, and i'll keep it that way as long as possible.
wow i like it and thankyou for all the info... where exactly does it come apart?

Here are a few pics with arrows either pointing at places where the mews comes apart or the bolts and corner brackets that hold it all togetheron the inside, the 2x4 that runs across teh top holds the sides in and provides a place for the pvc and the plywood top to mount. pretty much aly place in the pictures that you see a doubled up 2x4 is a place where the mews comes apart.
I see where some of you mention you also have home owners associations to deal with. how do you all house your birds? There may come a time when i may have to look at other options as well.

i just built it hidden in my backyard, the only people who can see it are our 3 next door neighbors. We didn't ask, we felt it was better to get it up and beg for forgiveness rather than ask because my HOA sucks (we all call them the nazi's). They would have vetoed it without thinking. Soooo *shrug* our neighbors won't tattle on us lol.
Ha ha well who backs up the HOA? We dont have one.... who regulates it? if somebody builds a mew in their backyard so what its their backyard, what are they gonna do... sue you for buildling something on your own property?
please correct me if im missundrstanding as i probably am

The HOA was put in place and ruled by one family, I say ruled because they treat it like a monarchy. They have a couple family lackeys and we are forced to pay dues if we want to live here.
Every house MUST be a carbon copy of one another, and ever family must have 2.5 children, and they must all be blond haired and blue eyed
ha ha ha.... and HOW do they regulate that? kick you out?.... ha ha ha seriously how do they force you to pay for livivng somewhere?

Most HOA are city backed and they can take you to civil court and force you to pay any kind of penalties. They are put in place so that your community does not turn to crap and they were there when you moved in so if you do not like the way it is done do not move into a neighborhood that has one, like out in the country. Any ways there are ways to combat them, one is to take there place. They can not be removed and most of the people who do the inspecting live in your own neighborhood. I got all my permits before hand because I did not want to be told I have to take down a building I spent$3000 on. And yes they can make you take it down.

We are actually the first people to live in my house... before us... well... there was dirt.... we were never given the option for who got to lead the HOA, just some people started doing it.

you need to check into that, the property management started it long before ground was every broke. Every new neighborhood starts them for AS I SAID to keep your property value up by keeping the standards up. If you want to go live in a neighborhood that is not regulated than it will not be worth living in for long. That is why this is America, because if you don't like it you can move. No where does it say that if it is American it is not regulated. I for one am glad that my neighbor can not build what ever he wants, or store junk cars in his front yard, or something simple as not mow. I like standards and want them around.

Ahh i see.... well there is the freedom to move and then there is the problem of moving... like jobs, house prices (wayyyyyy up here in va) etc... but again it is their decision... well i think that it would be pointless and im glad i dont have one
